A variety of programs are available, to suit your child's age and level of reading and spelling.  Phonological awareness and literacy skills will be initially assessed to determine where their needs are, then specific programs will be suggested based on the findings.

Examples of the types of programs available include:

• Learning letters and sounds, blending and segmentation skills and reading and spelling of 2-3 letter words, e.g. pin, tub, am.

• Consolidation of short vowels with the introduction of consonant blends, blending and segmentation skills and reading and spelling of 4 letter words, e.g. slip, bent.

• Introduction of level 1 long vowels and the Magic E rule, vowel discrimination, blending, segmentation and manipulation of sounds, and reading and spelling of long vowel words, e.g. beach, paint, drive.

• Introduction of level 2 long vowels and consolidation of level 1 vowels, vowel discrimination, blending, segmentation and manipulation of sounds, and reading and spelling of long vowel words, e.g. surf, dawn, foil.

• Introduction to 2 syllable word reading and spelling, using common word suffixes, syllable slashing, doubling of medial consonants and reading and spelling words such as jumped, hopping, hiking, apple.

• Working with 2-4 syllable words, including more complex syllable slashing, prefixes and suffixes, blending, segmentation and manipulation of syllables within mulitsyllabic words, and reading and spelling words, e.g. adventure, connection, expensive.
