Feeding problems can be related to physical restrictions, such as tongue-tie, oromotor problems and/or sensitivities. A tongue-tie can cause breast-feeding difficulties and limited tongue movement will make it difficult to move food around the mouth. A child needs to be able to dissociate their tongue from their jaw and move their tongue freely from side to side in order to eat.
Sometimes children have hypersensitivities to textures, tastes or temperatures that make moving from purees to solids a challenge. This can lead to a severely restricted diet where nutritional needs are not met.

Ainjali is completing additional training in this area to be able to diagnose and treat feeding problems in children. In June 2021 she completed training in the SOS Approach to Feeding (Sequential-Oral-Sensory), an evidence-based program which is highly regarded.
