Stuttering
Many children experience a period of developmental stuttering around the age of 3 and a half. It is sometimes impossible to tell if a child's stutter will resolve by itself, or if it will persist. Some indicators of a more severe stutter include blocks and secondary characteristics such as eye blinking. A family history of stuttering is also important to note.
We will assess your child's stutter and recommend whether we think therapy is needed.
Treatment programs we use include the Lidcombe Program for pre-schoolers and primary school children and the Camperdown Program for teenagers. Both of these are evidence-based programs developed in Australia. All of our speech pathologists have completed specific Lidcombe Program training to ensure that we are implementing it to best practice guidelines.
